RV Trips To Take

RVs make road trips possible to experience the beauty of the United States while having familiar living conditions as you move from one location to the next. They allow visiting places where overnight stays might otherwise be too expensive.

With so much to explore it can be daunting deciding where to travel first. There are many *tools to help you plan your trip. Where you choose to travel will depend on how much time you have.

The National Parks are always popular destinations but there are so many other places worth visiting. Serious consideration is whether you will be comfortable boondocking (no electricity, water, or sewer) or prefer full hookup or at minimum partial hookup (electricity and water) and make sure your camping spot offers what your need.

Often there are several campgrounds or RV parks in or close to your destination offering a variety of facilities but choice and popular spots are usually booked as much as a year in advance. Now is the time to start planning your next RV road trip.

Whether visiting friends or family members who live a long distance away,  attending an event, or visiting one of our National treasures, RV travel is a great way to get there.  In fact, with careful planning, an RV trip could easily combine all the above.

Reunions

RVs are great for traveling to reunions with family or friends.  Meeting up with fellow RVers at RV campgrounds or national parks are great for catching up.  Often there are many local attractions or hiking trails to enjoy individually or as a group while camping.

Sporting Events

Sporting events, especially NASCAR races are popular with RVers.  In addition to the main race, there are practice sessions and qualifying races that take place over several days. For NASCAR fans with tickets for these events, RVing is particularly appealing.

RVing takes the popular football pre-game event of tailgating up a notch.  Enjoy having many of the comforts of home while throwing a tailgating party.  Traveling by RV to NFL football games can be a great idea.  Add a reservation at a nearby RV park or campground and you have a great weekend.

Festivals

Festivals are popular destinations to travel to by RV.  There are music and cultural festivals all across the USA.  Many include campgrounds making them very attractive to RVers.  There are often RV parks or campgrounds nearby ready to accommodate festival attendees if the festival doesn’t include a campground

National Parks

National parks have RV length restrictions, some set the limit at 35 feet but for others the limit is 22 feet.

Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming is a popular camping spot for RVers.  The park offers several camping options with limited facilities.  Staying in the park allows you to make the most of your time enjoying the scenic views of mountain terrain and geysers.

Acadia National Park in Maine is popular with visitors for hiking in the mountains and lounging on the beach. While there are a few RV parks scattered throughout the area and in nearby Bar Harbor, options are limited.

Olympic National Park in Washington is an RV friendly park located on the Olympic Peninsula and encapsulating the Olympic Mountains and Hoh Rainforest.  Hunting for rocks along the Pacific Ocean to trekking through ancient Spruce trees in the rainforest, visitors have plenty to explore.  The campgrounds can accommodate RVs but many are on a first-come basis.

What started out as temporary housing for myself and a puppy after a hurricane rampaged through our community became a fascination with RVs. Finding the comfort of home in a RV comes with a learning curve. Many things are unique in RVs and the amount of accessories is endless. I hope to help you chose wisely, learn what is necessary and avoid the useless.
